OCAY

Our advocates provide free support to over 400 people annually.

OCAY has been an independent charity in York since 2002, funded primarily by the National Lottery as well as a number of smaller grants, donations and our own fundraising.

We believe that older people have a right to a voice in decisions which affect them, and we aim to help people have their voices heard, through advocacy

Our 22 advocates provide free support to more than 400 people annually.

We believe that volunteers should gain skills and satisfaction from working with OCAY, and offer ongoing training and development for all our volunteers and staff.

We aim to have a positive impact on the lives of our clients, and seek feedback from clients to help us know what works and what needs improving.

We aim to be rigorous in evaluating our own work, with an eye to giving the best service we can to the older people of York. Independent evaluations suggest that OCAY’s work is effective and highly appreciated by its clients and the wider community in York.

We are committed to confidentiality and equality of opportunity in our work.
